Yin & Yang ☯️

The teaching of the Phases divides the circle to 8 equal segments of 45° each, with alternating Ying-Yang phases. The Zodiac is divided into 12 Signs, also assigning each sign a Yin or Yang quality. The overlap of these two is not in sync.. more than that, sometimes even the opposite - for example Capricorn.. how the cardinal masculine crystallized-ground Sign can be Yin? The Egyptian astrological calendar clearly shows the energy-flow from a transmitting arm to receptive arm in Fixed Signs. My question is - what is th

e correct association of a Sign to ☯️ inflow - outflow of energy?

This Mb is for Evolutionary Astrology questions, but I will answer your question as best as I can understand it in a way that applies to the natural zodiac relative to Capricorn Yin function..

The core archetype of Capricorn, 10th house, Saturn is for the whole of any group to integrate themselves as a group , thus YIN archetype, PULLING TOGETHER THROUGH THE INNER FLOW OF ENERGY ~ the whole group so as to create a stabilized whole, society, tribe, culture.

This is the same YIN archetype as Cancer as applied to the family , to integrate its members through the inner flow of energy .ie the family bond.

Thank you Kristin, Apologies for posting the Egyptian astrological calendar, I didn't realize the question might come across as not related to EA (I should've taken Mercury Rx and Mars Rx in ♊ into consideration)). The question though goes back to the original EA teaching - the Phases. Let's take semi-squares and sesqui-quadrates - the tide changes from outflow to inflow. These aspects divide the Fixed Signs in half, so one half is Yin and the other - Yang. That means, for example, that first half of Leo is Yang, and the second is Yin.. and I can't reconcile it within myself, as I can see how Leo archetype has feminine qualities as well. And so is with all Fixed Signs. Now, I do like your answer, however following your logic, the next group/tribe based Archetype must be Yin as well.. actually if group is a qualifier of Yin energy, all transpersonal Signs fall into that category, don't they?

In Evolutionary Astrology, as in astrology itself, the phases and their aspects within them correlate to their own archetypes ie. 8 phases, whereas the natural zodiac has 12 signs/ houses, and it's own archetypes.

EA teaches about the difference between these two.

From the point of view of the 8 phases, this then means that the original purpose that correlates with the new phase in EA terms is set in motion ~ yang, and that at the midway point ~ yin leading to the crescent phase it is means becoming aware/ learning how to integrate that purpose within the context of the environment in which the Soul finds itself, integration equally yin .

Relative to the 12 signs, houses, Leo as an archetype correlates with individual desire to actualize the inner sense of purpose, to take action of itself, which is then why via the signs / houses that Virgo follows Leo ~ yin ... and how to integrate this within the context of the environment in which the Soul finds itself.

The phases and aspects are taking PLANETS in some kind of aspect, the phase that exists between any two planets, and the archetypes therein.

The natural zodiac is about SGNS AND HOUSES .. and a planet(s) within them This is critical in understanding the differences between these two things .. the natural zodiac compared to the aspects and phases.

P.S. In further response to your question re: how the Capricorn, masculine, archetype can be yin?

Capricorn is ruled by Saturn, which connects to gravity ie bringing the Soul down and in, which is necessary to integrate ourselves as we move in this time/space Universe.

We all know the feeling of when we are off balance, seen with the square to Libra, and yet we also know when we are seated deeply in a natural center of gravity. We feel grounded and rooted withIN.

Capricorn also correlates to reflection, which is an INternal process.
