Wondering about any insights on which archetypes are linked to anger/rage.
I was thinking that perhaps anger is an Aries expresssion? A result of inaction? And rage, accumulated inaction—anger when it’s been ignored.
Also considering the aspect connection to Cancer, Libra & Capricorn—is anger linked to a lack of emotional hygiene/nurturance, an over-focus on people pleasing/relational imbalances/codependency, or repression of desire/freedom etc?
What do we look at in a natal chart to find a solution for someone struggling with immense amounts of anger? Is it just moon/cancer related or do we also look at Mars?
Hi @Lou, these various threads from the old message board reference anger/rage, so hopefully there’s something that touches on what you’re looking for:

There are a few others that you may want to skim through that you can find using the search function, but these had the most relevant information. I did see a few threads making various references to the individuated state which may be something to look into as well.
From my experience, studying how the “hard” aspects - semi-square, square, sesquiquadrate and opposition - manifest can reveal anger/rage issues and dynamics. These aspects usually involve some experience of limitation and imposition upon the will, freedom and desire of the individual, which can produce frustration, and if not worked with can develop into deeper levels of anger and rage. Quincunx and semi-sextiles may produce a similar effect as well, but the anger/rage/frustration is usually more “controlled” even if the “why” isn’t fully understood. This is where distortions in perception can manifest or become created, such as disavowal, denial, perversion etc. But this all still needs to be understood within the wider context of the chart.
Retrograde planets, intercepted planets, and planets like Mars, Jupiter, the Sun and Pluto in water or earth signs, as well as placements in fixed signs, may all point to dynamics/issues related with anger/rage as well.
In respect to finding solutions, I’m personally not at that level of understanding yet. Still trying to work through my own Mars rx in Cancer issues. When I have some answers I’ll let you know!
But what I can say is I agree the Cancer archetype is a step in the right direction. Learning to self- and re-nurture oneself, particularly those unresolved emotional wounds that did receive the recognition and understanding they needed when we were children. Giving ourselves space to be okay with being the “asshole” sometimes, and seeing when those emotions arise as opportunities to learn more about our own emotional needs that we haven’t learnt how to nurture and take care of yet.
Hi Lou,
To add some of my own reflection on this:
The answer is truly a case by case situation. There can be so many examples of anger in a chart. Moon/Cancer on its own does not have a direct correlation with anger but the way we integrate our experience through the emotional body as a whole. Of course strong Mars aspects may indicate that, but we will still need to ask "why"? What is the reason for anger?
On the deepest level, anger, while it is a natural emotion, points to the content of one's own inner soul evolution. So understanding the anger and what the soul may be able to learn from it is most important.
Mars points to Pluto: so at the core Pluto is also connected.
