Venus/Mars phase

I just want to confirm i am calculating the phases correctly as i am a bit confused with them still.

VENUS/MARS: i counted counterclockwise from Venus to mars and got 68 degrees. Is this then the sextile phase?

That would be the crescent phase.

Just realized you were counting from Venus to Mars so my answer was/ is wrong. That would be a last quarter phase.

How does it end up being a last quarter phase if it is 68 degrees?

When determining the phase between any two planets you must start with the slower moving planet of the two. From there counting in a counter-clockwise direction. So Mars is slower than Venus which is then used as your start point for determining the phase with Venus. The amount of degrees of separation then equals the phase between them.
