I’m rereading the Pluto and Cancer section of the Pluto book, and it says that the conflict can be reduced depending on how many times the individual has come into this life in that gender.
Could the amount of times be verified the placement of mars and Pluto? (The further away the more lives have been lived in this lesson)
Thanks so much:)
Hi Dominika,
JWG taught that the specific phasal relationship between Mars and Pluto determines how many lifetimes the Soul has been working on main evolutionary/karmic dynamics in the birth chart. Generally speaking, it takes 8 lifetimes to work through these karmic/evolutionary intentions. Thus, since there eight primary phases the phasal relationship between Mars and Pluto correlates to how many lifetimes have proceeded the current one that we have been working on these intentions.
For example, if Mars/Pluto is in a Crescent Phase the Soul has had one previous lifetime of working on the main/evolutionary intentions in the birth chart, and the current lifetime being lived in the second lifetime working on these intentions. This is written about in more depth in Pluto vol 2 in the chapter The Phasal Relationship Between Mars/Pluto.

Right yes. So if mars and Pluto are in a full or more phase it means the conflict can be greatly reduced in this or future lives.. the Pluto book says “ this conflict can be reduced in magnitude if this is not the first or second time, the person has come back in that gender”
And I guess maybe this could mean that based on the phasal relationship of mars and Pluto, the subject is the lesson itself..
and the further along they are, the more comfortable they will be in that lesson. So if I’m reading their chart, it’s possible that I won’t be seeing certain things because they will have figured out ways to find comfort in what would be hard in an earlier phase.
In this example the individual would begin feeling comfortable in their gender (mars Pluto full or more phase relationship) and the discomfort will not apply as much.
Thanks that is very clear Deva! I’m going to go over the Pluto book vol 2 tonight
Hi Dominikas and Deva, Isn't the nodal axis in Capricorn/Cancer what indicates a recent gender swap, or this even being an issue for the soul? Case in point: me. I know we don't talk about our charts here, but this hits a big question for me in interpreting the Capricorn/Cancer nodes, and my lived experience/lack of shame around it is a good way to talk about this potentially touchy subject. My experience is: always having felt new to being female, nodes 10° Cap/Cancer, Mars 135° sesquiquadrate Pluto. So close to that halfway mark, LOL. It has felt weird to be female, but not like "I can't tolerate this". It feels like it's something I'm learning to be. It feels like some body parts are missing, other parts are new, and I remember thinking "oh yeah, not male" many many times in childhood while getting dressed. I'm male in the few past life memories I have, too. It has always felt as if this is something I chose, to learn a big lesson, or to make a point. I have wondered what the difference is between me and people with gender dysphoria, people who are trans, and the relationship between Mars and Pluto sounds like the answer. So cap/cancer nodes + an earlier phase of Mars/Pluto indicate a more difficult lived experience regarding gender swap, yes? So first quarter square Mars Pluto with Cap Cancer nodes may have had me not accepting it from birth as I did? Then, having done the work, integrated what it means to be female, the soul cashes in their chips and is born again, in the next life, it's no longer a new thing, wouldn't that move the nodes out of Cap/Cancer?
Acceptance of gender alone will not necessarily move the entire Mars/Pluto config to easy street, if gender swap was a supporting part, but not the entire OP? I never thought about gender being related to the Mars/Pluto equation, but of course it's all working together! Very interesting. I'm inspired to look at more charts with Cap/cancer nodes. Thank you both, would love to hear your thoughts. with love, Michele
Hi Michele,
From my understanding Both Pluto in Capricorn/10th house and Pluto in Cancer/4th house symbolize possible gender switch as well as nodes in Capricorn/Cancer. Yes, the underlying intention is to integrate both sides of gender, or the anima/animus, over time. The Mars/Pluto phase correlates to how many lifetimes the Soul has been working out or through the main/evolutionary karmic dynamic symbolized in the birth chart, this can of course include gender. Of course. the more lifetimes spent working on these intentions the more familiar these lessons/intentions. In other words, the Soul becomes "used to" these lessons over time. The analogy used by JWG to illustrate this point is breaking in a new pair of pants- worn in over time. Let me know if this makes sense.

Deva
Hi Deva, yes, thank you.
Yeah, that’s a really interesting idea. I’ve wondered something similar before like if certain Pluto-Mars aspects reflect how much of that inner conflict someone’s already worked through in past lives. I’m not sure there’s a clear way to “measure” it, but I do think the distance or harmony between them could say something about the soul’s experience with that lesson. Definitely makes me want to look deeper into charts with strong Mars/Pluto dynamics.
